Family Weekend - Take 2!

After just saying our goodbyes to my side of the family, Jim and Jenn rolled in on Friday night! We had a great weekend and it was great to have them here! We went to Stone Mountain on Saturday and toured the rock, went on a train ride, played Putt-Putt golf (Jeff & I won!) & shopped. After the stone we went into town to the Dekalb International Farmers Market to buy fresh veggies and meat to make kabobs at the house (delicious dinner!). On Sunday we had some lunch and went to Piedmont Park to let the dogs run around and later in the afternoon the boys went golfing with Geert. (The 6th hole was pretty eventful, but I'll let Jeff share that story when he's ready). All in all busy and HOT weekend! next weekend we are sleeping in, cleaning & RELAXING at home! Family-Weekend

Well another great weekend with the Family has come and gone far to quickly! Lindsay & Gwen stayed with me at our house and spent the mornings relaxing and playing with Gwen. The weekend was really fun and filled with O'Brien-Loeffen Events. The kids got baptized, we ate alot, we saw Sex in the City, went to the outlet malls, and played in the new pool! did i mention we ate alot!?!? Jeff is home from his brother's graduation in NYC and hopefully I can steal some of the Tudini's photo's so we can post them! That's all for now, we recently made plans to visit Jeff's parent's FL house for the 4th of July weekend and Im REALLY looking forward to relaxing next to the pool!! Love & Miss you all!

funny story: We have a couple who lives next door that we have never seen. We call them the Vampires because we hear them at night coming and going but never really during the day. We do know they recently had a baby and figured thats why we don't see them. Well that ALL changed last night. As we tracked the big storm on TV we noticed the storm was headed for smyrna and they were warning the shape of the storm was beginning to "hook" (which we have come to learn when a storm is shaped like a boomerang that means head for your basement!!). Then on top of that the tornado sirens started going off(we remained in our living room) until our vampire neigbors came RUNNING over to our front porch asking if they could please come sit in our basement with us! My first reaction "OMG are we supposed to already be in our basement?" second reaction "OMG the vampire lady is REAL, very tan(ironically) and on my front porch asking to come in!!" haha Needless to say her husband was not far behind running with their 3 month old baby. Of course we rushed them into the basement and joined them with lawn chairs and iced tea. It was actually really nice to get to know them and see their sweet baby boy. We spent 45 minutes just getting to know each other and when the sun came out they returned to their vampire-cave. All in all it was strange but really cool. Hopefully we wont have to make any more basement runs but we will be seeing more of Rachel, Mike & Elijiah!

I am off tonight to Buffalo to spend some QT with family and friends! On Monday I am headed to D.C. for a 5 day conference,Im sure Jeff will be enjoying the "quiet time"! love and miss you all!

Mother's Day Weekend

Well I survived my first commencement ceremony at Georgia State University! It was pretty uneventful, I did see a woman fall pretty hard but other than that I just helped people find seats and hand out programs. I did leave with a migraine but that is pretty normal for me!

Sunday was great. I opened the door to Renee & G's car and Maryn yelled out "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY KATIE!!!" I thought it was really sweet, she told me my babies were buddy & Bentley and since they are a handful I would agree! We were then off to Centennial Olympic Park downtown to watch the kids play in the water "rings". It was a beautiful day and I even got sun burnt! The best part was watching the kids, they were hilarious!! We also got ice cream and later had a special mother's day dinner. Not much else to report it was a pretty normal weekend without Jeff, but he'll be home on Friday!!

holding down the fort

Yes it's true. Jeff has been in Puerto Rico since Sunday morning and it has been a relatively boring week, if you don't count losing Bentley for who knows how long. (longest/most stressful 15 minutes of my life but i'll get to that later). Jeff started out pretty excited about his trip to P.R. but as every day passes I can tell it's not all fun & games! Apparently it's hotter than hell, he's stuck under a tarp taking measurements then walks miles to the car. He spends 30 minutes in his room then off to dinner only to return to the hotel for more data entry work until bed time. Hopefully this weekend he will get some pool side time(totally jealous)!

**WARNING: When I tell stories they tend to be overly dramatic but hey you all knew that!**

Meanwhile I WAS holding down the fort pretty well until wednesday when I managed to loose Bentley! I left him in the backyard while Buddy and I went to Renee & G's for dinner. When I got home (2 hours later) he was not in the fenced in yard!! My intial reaction was "OMG someone stole bentley!!" How foolish of me!!?!?! Who would actually want him that badly!!!?!!?!? I quickly came to the realization he escaped, I had a complete panic/emotional breakdown(ask G he can recount the teary plea for help over the phone). I did manage to run through the house screaming his name and down the block! (Yes, I am THAT crazy neighbor now!!). Within about 10 minutes of screaming/tears/running my Bentley Baby Boy came RUNNING down the street with a look of "Hey MOM!!! guess what i just toured the hood and it was AWESOME" My reaction was mixed; I picked him up(he's 50 some odd pounds,wasn't a pretty sight) and walked home with him in my arms haha. Then I yelled at him in the kitchen(as to not embarass myself any more than I already had!) I must say he is one athletic/lucky dog, the fence is intact and the only conclusion we have is he managed to jump the fence! Soooo great, now I can't even leave my olympic orphan mut in my backyard anymore!

Thats all for now, Im babysitting the Divine Miss Maryn and Prince Keller tonight and working Graduation tomorrow at the Georgia Dome! Nothing to exciting going on this weekend, I plan on doing a lot of cleaning and cooking! Jeff comes home a week from today YAY!!!! BUFFALO IN 12 days!!!!!!
